Worship

Another vital part of life at Oneida is the worship opportunities. A few are mandatory but most are optional. We understand that the worship setting may be a new experience for some students, but we ask only that they be respectful during the services so that others may worship. Oneida Baptist Institute is supported by the Kentucky Baptist Convention; however, its focus is to expose the students to Christianity not denominational specifics. Non-Baptist students do not need to worry. Our services may be different from what they are used to, but they are simple and intend to teach Bible truths.

Students attend chapel each school day after third period. On Sundays they attend both morning and evening worship services. These generally include a chorus or hymn, prayer, and a message and are 30-45 minutes in duration. Special speakers and groups are often scheduled for these times, and the students enjoy the praise and worship concerts each Friday during chapel.

There are several optional worship opportunities for students: Sunday morning Bible study, dorm devotions, revivals, concerts, discipleship training, and BCM (Baptist Campus Ministry). The BCM meets several times a month and is a lot like a church youth group. Students can also participate in the Creative Ministries group which leads campus worship services with drama, music, and interpretive movement.

It is our sincere prayer that all of our students come to know Christ as their Savior; however, non-Christians will not be pressured or manipulated into making a spiritual commitment. Some students come to Oneida as non-believers and eventually make a personal commitment to follow Christ while here. Other students come to Oneida as non-believers and do not become Christians, but they can still have a positive experience here. Those students who come to Oneida as Christians can strengthen their relationship with God through worshiping, learning, serving, and witnessing. They have endless opportunities to share the gospel with other students on campus.
